Heritage Breed Free Range Poultry

Heritage breeds are those breeds that were around prior to the mass industrialization of poultry production in this country and the world. Our chickens and poussins are based on the Cou Nu breed from France. Raised according to the French Label Rouge protocols, our chickens are truly raised outdoors in North Carolina. Fed only pure grain and water, they grow slowly, taking twice as long to grow as any hybrid chicken, (including organic ones) resulting in a densely textured, full- flavored chicken unlike any you may have tasted. Again, these chickens are like the ones your grandparents had ….before the factories produced them.

Our Pekin ducks are raised on Long Island and are based on the Pekin breed, which was the breed originally introduced to the U.S. over 100 years ago, and which helped the term Long Island Duck, earn its excellent reputation for quality and taste. Extremely tender with a mild flavor, these duck breasts are delicious.
